The Carolina Artist Gallery is excited to announce the artists awards presented during the show reception on Saturday, August 9, 2025. We were pleased to have the Gallery Director at Craven Arts Council and Gallery, Annika Chhabra, as our show judge.

Honorable Mention to Carrie Witte for " Peacock on Horseshoe Crab Shell"
Judge's comments: Very creative canvas and beautifully crafted. The brush strokes are very expressive.

Honorable Mention to Barbi Bailey-Smith for "In a World Full of Color, Some Only See Black & White"

Judge's comments: I enjoyed the use of rainbow colors, but especially like that they were not in "rainbow order". The dog's expression is very interesting and draws the eye in.

Third Place to Angel Galyon for "The Gambian Woman"

Judge's comment: The vibrancy of the colors used alongside the exceptional craft used to create the piece stood out to me. The subject matter also makes me feel connected to the woman's journey.

Second Place to Heidi DiBella for " Finish Line"

Judge's comment: The use of neutral and more vibrant colors alongside the texture stood out to me. There is a lot of movement within the composition and it was executed very successfully.

First Place to Kathleen Dentinger for "Lyrical Garden"

Judge's comment: The overall use of color and the contrast within the work stood out to me. I enjoyed the fact that even with a lot of colors everything is sharp and well saturated.

Thank you to all the talented artists who entered their pieces in our Something About Color Show. We hope you can come visit the Carolina Artist Gallery to view this truly colorful collection of art.
