Audrey Cushman's first career was in School Counseling, but she developed a stronger calling for the arts in 2013. She has been drawing and painting ever since, and has attended numerous art classes and workshops. She is passionate about painting outside with a portable easel in the “plein air” tradition. She paints with oils in an impressionistic style and can be spotted around eastern NC painting marshes, rivers, fields, sand dunes, sailboats, and historic homes. Audrey has received awards for her paintings and has been accepted into multiple American Impressionist Society shows. She won the Quick Paint at the 2022 New Bern Plein Air Festival and participated as a featured artist at the festival the following year. In 2023 she was the showcase artist at the Beaufort Historic Society's Fall Party at the Mattie King Gallery. Audrey's paintings can be viewed at The Last Detail, Salt, and The Mattie King Gallery.
