Intermediate Level
This class will explore how to begin a painting using a Light Wash Technique, with special emphasis on color mixing. We will save our whites and find the lightest colors. The painting will proceed to creating shadows and dark contrast. Interesting details will highlight the composition. An easy subject will be provided by the instructor.

Rock Salt, Liquid Mask Eraser, Pipettes for pouring technique
Student Material List
Sketch pad, mechanical pencil and pink eraser, 18” ruler Watercolor Block (12” x 18”), Palette or Butchers Tray, water container, Spray bottle, sponges, paper towel and Kleenex,
6 sm. Containers and lids, several watercolor brushes including detail, medium rounds and 1” or 2” flat brushes. The #6 Winsor & Newton water color sable pointed round is especially useful.
Watercolor Paints
It is essential to have at least 2 light, 2 medium and 2 dark ofall primary colors. Most professional brands are interchangeable, and include Holbein, Windsor Newton, and Daniel Smith. The American Journey watercolors from Cheap Joe’s are excellent.

Create Landscape Paintings Using Watercolor Techniques
Your participation is important to us, however, enrollment is limited in our classes and workshops. Each class requires a minimum number of students enrolled to ensure adequate accommodations, materials and payment for the instructor. Once you have enrolled, we are counting on you to attend but we understand that situations may arise that are out of your control. A participant wishing to withdraw from a class or workshop that has not been cancelled by the ACCC must send a written request at least one week prior to the start of class. Please email Chris Stetson at chris.stetson@me.com. A full refund will be issued, minus a $10 processing fee per participant per class. Please allow 2 weeks for processing. For cancelations made within the week prior to the start of class or after class has begun a refund or credit cannot be given.
The ACCC follows the Carteret County School closings for weather or other emergency conditions. We reserve the right to cancel a class for any reason including minimum enrollment not being met. In the event that ACCC cancels a class you will be notified by email and a full refund will be issued. Please allow 2 weeks for processing.
