About the event

What’s in a box?

This will be a fun, five day, visual art camp where children will explore, draw, paint, create and invent their own boxes. The camp will involve two dimensional and three dimensional artwork while exploring mixed media and found object assembly.

Students will look inside boxes and draw from observation whatever is there. What do we see? Toys? Food, art supplies? Basic drawing instructions will be offered. Time to create our own box!  Looking at the work of artists in history who have used boxes in their art, we will select a central theme and make a box filling and decorating it with found objects and images that will convey our theme.

Is it a lunchbox for Godzilla or Barbie? Could it be a box of leprechaun magic, gold shoes or rainbows? Is it a treasure box with ocean and pirate collectibles?

The sky is the limit or shall we say “The Box is our limit!”
