Sea Turtle lovers- explore the world of sea turtles through the visual arts in this ocean themed art week!  Kids will create art using a variety of media and sea turtles as inspiration.

Laurie Power Bio

I am a full time homeschool mom of two tweens and an artist/scientist at heart.  I have a BS in Biology and Studio Art, and have called Beaufort home since 2005.  My careers have always been focused on informal education for the public of all ages, but I absolutely love creative work with kids.  A lot of my work has included teaching with animals, which has shown in my art though the years.  You might see some of my biologically accurate handmade animal costumes at aquariums and zoos.   I love sewing and fiber art, sculpture, and pastels, to name a few.  I am the founder of the Homeschool STEAM Club, which educates over 30 local homeschoolers each week in all topics of science, including art!  One of my college art professors once encouraged me to weave art into the fabric of my life, and it feels like I’ve been lucky enough to do just that.
