RiverDotArt&Ink by Gray Woolard

For artist Gray Woolard, creating art is more than just a hobby—it’s a way to find peace, express creativity, and connect with others. Based in Washington, NC, Gray specializes in Mandala Dot Art and alcohol ink painting, two mesmerizing techniques that allow colors and textures to flow together in harmony.

Gray has been an artist for as long as she can remember, but she officially began her journey as a dot artist about ten years ago. She later discovered the beauty of alcohol ink painting, which she has been exploring for the past eight years.

While she doesn’t have formal training, Gray is a self-taught artist who has spent countless hours watching tutorials, experimenting, and developing her own unique style. Her artwork is deeply personal and spiritual. She describes dot painting as a therapeutic process, a time for reflection and prayer. When working with alcohol inks, she embraces both control and unpredictability, allowing the inks to form stunning, organic designs.

Gray became a working artist at River Walk Gallery in Washington NC in July 2022. Today, she serves as the gallery’s assistant treasurer and is actively involved in community and events committees. She also teaches art classes at River Walk Gallery, River Bend Cultural Center in Belhaven, and in Bath, NC.

Originally from Greenville, NC, Gray and her husband, John, now live in Washington, where they enjoy the beauty of the Pamlico River. They share their home with their beloved golden retriever, Huck.

Gray hopes her artwork brings others the same sense of peace it gives her. Her work is displayed at River Walk Gallery, River Bend Cultural Center, and on social media under RiverDot Art & Ink.
