Artist Statement
Painting is my calm and freedom. I feel I could spend almost every day painting with others, not only to learn but to share each other's knowledge in the finest way. To me, painting is a journey that never stops, always changing, and my love for art has grown deep over many years. Art museums and galleries open up to us all the wonderful world of paintings, sculptures, history, and so much more. I have never stopped being amazed by what is in an artist's head, especially when someone puts their mind to the canvas.
Biography
Born in 1963 in Hagerstown, Maryland. Currently residing in Hubert, North Carolina, as an artist and painter. Self-taught with no formal training. Active in the art community up and down the East Coast, NC, and further West. Current galleries include Carolina Artist Gallery in Morehead City, Craven Arts Council & Gallery Bank of the Arts in New Bern, NC, Jacksonville Onslow Council for the Arts, NC, and various coastal visitor shops throughout the eastern part of the state.
Specialty range includes acrylic and oil mediums. High color saturation and glazing techniques are used for my landscapes and seascapes. Every piece starts with an underpainting and building transparent layers to achieve an illuminous effect. Many collectors state they feel they are looking into a dream, and the content is easy on the eye. Works offer both tight and loose painting techniques, with some a combination of both.
As an active artist, my goal is to share knowledge with others and draw interest to upcoming students of the craft. Also, to encourage others, whether or not you are an artist, to help keep the art world alive for future generations, is key.
