Loraine has focused most of her time working as a sculptor with clay. She chooses small and large free form, experimental pieces fired at an earthenware temperature.
She completed her BA & MA at the State University of New York at Stony Brook in the 1970’s, taught art in public schools in NY and MA for almost 20 years and continues to offer classes from time to time.
While residing in the UK with her family, she apprenticed under doll maker Jane Fuller at the "Secret Garden" in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England from 1986-1988 and later developed free standing, poseable Little People Porcelain Dolls
Moving to the Crystal Coast has inspired more recent work celebrating this beautiful environment including a series of beach walkers, and Bogue Banks Tiles. These functional wall tiles can be commissioned for any wall installation including kitchen and bathrooms.
