J Ipock

Artist Website:

"As an artist, I embrace a diverse range of materials to bring my visions to life. I enjoy building furniture and using traditional patterns to carve decoys. My work often involves upcycling thrift store finds into playful metal sculptures of animals. By integrating glass, wood, and metal, I strive to produce beautiful and unique pieces that reflect my passion for both functionality and artistry."

BIO

J Ipock, a native of Beaufort, NC, grew up surfing and working on the water with his father, a commercial fisherman. After earning a BA in Business Administration from Atlantic Christian College, J married his high school sweetheart and together they raised two children. He served as the CFO for the Carteret County School System for 27 years, earning numerous NC Awards of Excellence. Upon retiring, J discovered a passion for craftsmanship.

Mr. Ipock has a deep appreciation for Carteret County’s traditions and history, which he celebrates through various roles: narrating BHA double-decker bus tours, serving as treasurer on the ACCC executive board, and taking artistic welding and decoy carving classes at Carteret Community College. J has shown his work at St. Francis by the Sea, Pine Knoll Shores Library, New Bern Bank of the Arts, Art from the Heart, and the Carteret County Library. His creations can be viewed on Facebook at Jamison and J’s Arts and Crafts, the Olde Beaufort Farmers Market, and at CAG.
