Heidi DiBella

All my life I’ve loved animals, nature, and the great outdoors.

God has blessed us with the most beautiful place to live! My inspiration comes from His creations, and painting is a way to capture that beauty. My passion is for animals, especially horses. There is something so deep and sacred when you look into the eyes of an animal, you know you are looking into their souls.

A native New Englander, Heidi L. White-DiBella now calls New Bern her home. A graduate of Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island, she didn’t discover art until she moved to Maine, where she studied with accomplished artists: watercolor artist Vertene Carter, and world-renowned sculptor Joseph Query. In North Carolina, she studied with artist Linda Hastings, and has taken numerous workshops with many other talented artist-teachers.

She enjoys several mediums — from Chinese Brush painting, acrylics and watercolor, to alcohol inks and mixed media — in styles from realism to abstract, and her style continues to evolve.

Heidi’s passion is for animals, especially horses. She likes to blend the paint directly on the paper to get a variety of colors. She paints loose, showing movement and flow in her work. As she works, she allows the flow of the paint to takeover and see what develops.

Her work is in private collections across the country, and has won awards in many exhibitions, juried and non juried shows including the Maine Coast Competition Art Show; Watercolor Society of North Carolina; Touch of Class Show, Havelock; Eastern North Carolina Rose Society Show; Roy G Biv and the Twin Rivers Members Show, New Bern.

She’s been a member of Twin Rivers Art Association, Greenville Brushstrokes, and the Watercolor Society of North Carolina. Currently she’s a member of the Craven Arts Council and the Arts Council of Carteret County. Her work is in Carolina Artist Gallery, Morehead City and Community Artists Gallery & Studios in New Bern where she is currently their Gallery Director.
