SUMMER ART CAMP  July 15-19, 2024

Grade levels 3 -8

9:00AM-1:00PM REPEATS 1:30-5:30PM

What is it like for horses to live on the island of Shackleford Banks? Kids will BE a horse and find out!   With guidance from a visiting Cape Lookout National Seashore Ranger kids will assume the role of being a Banker Pony (their correct distinction) to share their point of view. Kids (ponies) will paint plein air landscapes of terrain and dunes; distinguish colors and textures of edible plants; possibly discover reflections of themselves in freshwater pools…and more!

WHAT TO EXPECT: NOTE – This class repeats. Two separate classes will be offered during a morning and an afternoon setting. Contact ACCC if you wish your child to attend both. A discount will be offered for a full day at camps.

- Different art mediums will be explored choosing where, when, why and how to use what!

- Classes may build on each other.

- Students work independently and participate interactively to share their ideas.

- Each 4-hour morning will have multiple breaks of approximately 10 minutes each.

- Students’ daily work is retained as reference for additional work.

- Students will create a portfolio to bring home at the end of the week-long series.

- Class work will be exhibited 15 minutes before pick-up time on the last day.

- Students should dress to work with a variety of art mediums and to get their hands wet.

WHAT YOUR CHILD SHOULD BRING:

Ensure your child has non-peanut snacks & drinks daily.

Please inform your child that snacks are not to be shared. Thank you.

Fee: $225 Materials are included
