Volunteer Grant Writer

The Arts Council of Carteret County is seeking a volunteer with grant writing experience to create applications and proposals for our organization, including the new National Endowment for the Arts’ “American Rescue Plan (ARP)” Grant and annual grants from the North Carolina Arts Council. Part-Time Executive Director

The ACCC is seeking a part-time executive director to articulate and communicate the value of the arts in improving the quality of life and promote community support of the arts and the arts council. The executive director is accountable for ACCCs achievement of its mission, strategic goals, and financial objectives as set by the board of directors. The successful candidate must be both professional and approachable by all, energetic, and an enthusiastic leader of the arts. 

Responsibilities include:

Grants & Reporting

File local, state and federal forms, reports, grant applications, etc. as required. Provide input to the treasurer and finance committee in preparing the annual budget for review and approval by the board, and ensure that ACCC operates within the budget guidelines.

Manage the Team

Maintain a work environment that attracts, maintains, and motivates a diverse staff of top-quality individuals, both volunteer and professional, who are committed to organizational excellence and the mission of ACCC. When needed provide regular verbal performance evaluations and annual written performance and compensation reviews of all employees and make recommendations to the board of directors.

Fundraise Resources for Operations & Programs

Seek and secure funding and sponsorships from local, regional and national government, corporate, foundation, and individual sources to support art exhibits, awards, operations, events and programs.

Developing & Implementing Programs & Growing Community Connections

Provide a dynamic calendar of programming that includes a rotating selection of art exhibits from local and regional artists, art festivals, musical and theater events. Build and cultivate strong relationships including regular communications and coordination with other local non-profits, sponsors, the Carteret County community and education partners/stakeholders.

Skills Needed:

— Enthusiasm to provide leadership to meet the challenges of changing demographics, and to attract and meet the needs of our population and community-at-large.

— Proficient computer skills including data management and communication: Word, Excel, and QuickBooks. Experience/familiarity with social media.

— Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.

— Two to five years of administrative, financial and budgetary experience in a nonprofit environment or related field.

— Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills.

— Experience supervising and mentoring volunteers.

— Strong marketing and public relations experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
