Seeking an Emotional Connection with Paintings

Friday, August 02, 2019

For the month of August 2019, the Cassie Howe Algeo Gallery will feature the colorful multi-faceted oil paintings of Beaufort resident Heather Sink. This exhibit will be in the Gallery located in the hallway connecting the new and old lobbies of Carteret Health Care at 3500 Arendell St., Morehead City. As always, these shows are free and open to the public at all times. These works of art are for sale and purchase can be arranged through the Carteret Healthcare Foundation Office.

Heather's paintings are of subjects that she is drawn to, many are vignettes of this coastal region. Others are Plein Air studies created in her travels and then painted in her studio. Heather is acutely aware of moments in time and tries to bring those elements to her work. The emotional connection to a piece of art is personal to each viewer and creating that connection is very important to her.

Heather earned her Fine Arts and Education Degree from Meredith College, NC. After retiring from the NC School System, she was not ready to stop teaching. She opened Craving Art Studio in Beaufort six years ago where she teaches Fine Art Painting classes. She takes students for Plein Air workshops to her home country of England as well as San Miguel De Allende and Tuscany, Italy.
