Amy Voorhees Carries on the Family Tradition of Art

For the month of April 2019 the Cassie Howe Algeo Gallery will feature the colorful paintings of Morehead City resident Amy Voorhees.

Amy has lived and worked on the coast of North Carolina for the last 28 years. Her studies include art classes at Virginia Commonwealth University, the University of North Carolina-Asheville and many painting workshops from such notable artists as: Peggy Knoll-Roberts, Camille Przewodek, Lee Boyton, Roberta Marks, John Lyons, Caroline Jasper, and Bob Burridge. Voorhees honed her skills by investing in an apprenticeship program with the plein-air artist Kevin McPherson.

Voorhees has also worked as the Arts Program Coordinator for the local Arts Council, and received the Distinguished Women of Carteret County Award- Arts Award in 2000 for her efforts. She has taught art in private and public venues for the last 35 years.

Her work can be viewed at the Mattie King Gallery in Beaufort, North Carolina and at the fall Voorhees Family Art Show in Asheville, North Carolina.

This exhibit will be in the Gallery located in the hallway connecting the new and old lobbies of Carteret Health Care at 3500 Arendell St., Morehead City. As always these shows are free and open to the public at all times. These works of art are for sale and purchase can be arranged through the Carteret Healthcare Foundation Office.
